Patel and Kerr Power New Zealand to Dominant Series Sweep Over Zimbabwe

New Zealand women's national cricket team completed a comprehensive T20I series sweep over Zimbabwe women's national cricket team with another emphatic display in Hamilton, cruising to a ten-wicket win after bundling the visitors out for just 64 for 9.

After Zimbabwe chose to bat, the damage began early. Jess Kerr struck in the third over to remove Kelis Ndhlovu, and a run-out the very next ball left Zimbabwe reeling at 3 for 2. From there, Nensi Patel took control, ripping through the middle order with her left-arm spin.

By the end of the seventh over, Zimbabwe had slumped to 10 for 6, with Kerr and Patel sharing four wickets between them. Patel finished with outstanding figures of 3 for 8, while Kerr returned 2 for 6 in a clinical bowling effort. Support came from Amelia Kerr and Maddy Green with a wicket each, and Rosemary Mair conceded just three runs in her three overs.

A 42-run stand for the eighth wicket between Adel Zimunu and Audrey Mazvishaya (20 not out) ensured Zimbabwe batted out their 20 overs, but the total was never going to challenge New Zealand.

The chase was swift and ruthless. Isabella Gaze, continuing her fine form after scores of 66* and 85* earlier in the series, struck an unbeaten 38 off 20 balls. Izzy Sharp supported with 18 not out as New Zealand raced to 65 without loss in just 5.4 overs.

The sides now move to a three-match ODI series in Dunedin, beginning March 5.
