Pakistan to Host England and Sri Lanka in ODI Tri-Series Ahead of 2027 World Cup

Pakistan are set to host England and Sri Lanka in a seven-match ODI tri-series beginning on October 18, 2026, with the opening match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka scheduled to take place in Rawalpindi.
The series will conclude with the final in Lahore on October 31, giving all three teams an important opportunity to prepare for future international assignments ahead of the 2027 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup. Pakistan will enter the competition under the captaincy of Shaheen Shah Afridi, with Mike Hesson serving as head coach.
The squad also includes experienced batter Babar Azam, whose performance will be important to Pakistan's batting plans throughout the tournament. England have arrived in Islamabad ahead of the competition and will look to adapt to the conditions in Pakistan as they prepare for a challenging series against two familiar opponents.
Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will aim to make a strong start in the opening fixture and establish themselves as serious contenders for the title. With seven matches scheduled across the tournament and the final set for October 31, the tri-series is expected to provide valuable match practice, allow teams to assess their ODI combinations and help players build confidence in the 50-over format.
With the 2027 World Cup approaching in less than a year, performances in the series could also influence team selections, batting combinations and bowling strategies as Pakistan, England and Sri Lanka continue their preparations for the global tournament.
