Pakistan women's national cricket team have been fined 5% of their match fee for maintaining a slow over rate during their Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 clash against India women's national cricket team at Edgbaston.
Pakistan were found one over short of the required target after time allowances were considered, leading match referee Trudy Anderson to impose the sanction under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which penalizes teams 5% of their match fee for every over not completed on time.
Pakistan captain Fatima Sana accepted responsibility and pleaded guilty, meaning no formal hearing was required. The charge was brought by on-field umpires Claire Polosak and Jacquline Williams, along with third umpire Eloise Sheridan and fourth umpire Sue Redfern.
The penalty adds to a disappointing outing for Pakistan, who suffered a 64-run defeat against India in their tournament opener, leaving them fifth in Group A with a net run rate of -3.200.
Pakistan will now look to bounce back in their next fixture against South Africa women's national cricket team, again at Edgbaston, on June 17.
