Pakistan carry belief from Thailand win into India clash

Pakistan overcame an early batting setback against Thailand in their Asia Cup opener, recovering to post a defendable total before their bowlers restricted Thailand to 84/8 and secured a winning start.

Muneeba Ali said the team’s belief played a key role in their recovery after losing wickets during the powerplay. She highlighted the importance of building partnerships, continuing to score and putting pressure back on the opposition.

Pakistan’s batting unit has struggled for consistency in recent T20 series, but Muneeba believes the team’s work in recent camps helped them respond better under pressure. The focus, she said, was on avoiding previous mistakes and developing more options in the batting order.

The bowlers then backed up that effort, with Nashra Sandhu delivering an excellent spell of 4-0-6-0 as Pakistan kept Thailand to a modest total. Tuba Hassan also impressed with 2/17 from her four overs, using variations in pace and targeting the stumps.

With confidence growing after their opening victory, Pakistan now turn their attention to India. The two sides will meet on Saturday, with Pakistan hoping to carry the resilience and belief shown against Thailand into one of their biggest challenges of the tournament.
