Pakistan Bat First, Drop Shaheen in Must-Win Clash Against Namibia

Pakistan opted to bat first and made the bold call to leave out Shaheen Afridi in a must-win T20 World Cup encounter against Namibia, with their Super Eight hopes hanging by a thread.

Namibia, already out of contention, also made two changes, handing a chance to 20-year-old Jack Brassell in place of 17-year-old Max Heingo. While their own campaign cannot extend beyond the group stage, Namibia could still play spoilers. An upset victory would send USA through at Pakistan’s expense — a scenario that adds another layer of intrigue.

USA currently sit second in the group standings and can only watch events unfold. Any result other than a Pakistan win would confirm their unlikely qualification.

For Pakistan, it is a familiar but uncomfortable position. Having exited in the group stage in the previous edition, another early elimination would mark a significant setback.
