Ollie Robinson Breaks Into Test Bowling Top Five After Lord’s Heroics

England fast bowler Ollie Robinson has made a significant jump in the latest ICC Men’s Test Rankings following his match-winning performance against Pakistan at Lord’s.

Robinson claimed eight wickets in the second Test, earning his second consecutive Player of the Match award and helping England seal the three-match series against Pakistan. His impressive display saw him climb six places to fifth in the Test bowling rankings, marking his first return to the top five since July 2023.

Australia’s Mitchell Starc continues to hold the No.1 position among Test bowlers after moving ahead of Jasprit Bumrah last month.

There were also notable gains further down the rankings. Sri Lanka’s Asitha Fernando moved up four places to 11th after taking four wickets against India in Colombo. England pacer Josh Tongue also climbed four spots to share 13th place, while Pakistan seamer Mohammad Abbas made one of the biggest jumps, rising 10 places to 15th.

In the Test batting rankings, England’s Harry Brook remains at the top despite modest scores of 15 and 34 at Lord’s. Australia’s Steve Smith moved into second place, while Joe Root slipped to third.

Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis was the biggest mover inside the top 10, climbing two spots to reach 10th. Pakistan batter Saud Shakeel rose 15 places to 18th, while Sri Lanka youngster Sonal Dinusha made an impressive 29-place jump to 25th. India’s Devdutt Padikkal also moved up five places to 54th.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s Dewald Brevis made a major surge in the T20I batting rankings. The hard-hitting batter climbed six places to fourth, following scores of 75, 75* and 41 in the ongoing tri-series in Namibia.

Brevis now trails only India’s Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma and Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan in the T20I batting rankings.

Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan continues to occupy the No.1 spot among T20I bowlers, while Zimbabwe’s Brad Evans and South Africa’s Kwena Maphaka were among the other notable risers in the latest update.
