Moeen Ali produced a match-winning unbeaten half-century as Antigua and Barbuda Falcons defeated Barbados Tridents by 30 runs in North Sound, returning to the top of the CPL 2026 table.

Asked to bat first, Falcons suffered an immediate setback when Rahkeem Cornwall was bowled by Daniel Sams off the first ball. Amir Jangoo then helped rebuild the innings, but the scoring remained slow as Falcons struggled to find momentum.

The game changed when Moeen Ali arrived at No. 5. After Jangoo and Shadab Khan departed, Moeen combined with Shamar Springer to add an unbeaten 75-run stand from just 41 balls.

Moeen saved his best for the final over. With Falcons needing a strong finish, he smashed Sams for three consecutive sixes and collected 20 runs from the over, lifting the total to a competitive 155 for 5. He finished unbeaten on 56, with three fours and four sixes.

Tridents struggled to match the required scoring rate in their chase. They reached 45 for 2 during the powerplay, with Alzarri Joseph removing Shian Brathwaite and Zachary Carter.

Rivaldo Clarke top-scored with 27 from 26 balls, while Kevlon Anderson added 22. Their 39-run partnership briefly offered hope, but Falcons' bowlers kept the pressure on.

Sherfane Rutherford's dismissal, brilliantly caught by substitute Anderson Phillip in the deep, further damaged Tridents' chances. Joshua James then led the bowling attack with 3 for 18, while Alzarri Joseph, Shadab Khan and Sufyan Moqim also made key contributions.

Tridents were eventually bowled out for 125 in the 18th over, handing Falcons a 30-run victory.

Moeen's late hitting proved decisive in a low-scoring contest and helped Falcons bounce back immediately after their heavy defeat to Guyana Amazon Warriors. The victory puts them back at the top of the table, although they have already played seven matches, more than the other leading teams.
