“They are beatable,” Miller said after the match. “India come with an incredible team. For us, it’s about doing simple things right and getting the job done. We are a mature team. A lot of guys have played together and that goes a long way under pressure. It’s about staying in your lane and keeping wanting more.”

South Africa posted 187, a total Miller described as fair though they were aiming for 200. The bowlers ensured it was more than enough. Early wickets in the powerplay shifted momentum before Lungi Ngidi’s clever use of slower balls choked India’s chase. Keshav Maharaj also played a decisive role, picking up three wickets in a single over to shut the door firmly.

The victory extended South Africa’s winning run in the tournament to five matches and strengthened their position in the Super Eight stage. Yet Miller stressed that nothing is guaranteed.

With two fixtures still to play, including a clash against West Indies at the same venue, South Africa know momentum means little without consistency. India may have been beaten, but for South Africa, the bigger goal remains ahead.
