Bangladesh have recalled experienced batter Litton Das to their ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against Pakistan, which begins on March 11 in Mirpur. The selectors have made several changes to the squad as they look to strengthen the team ahead of the important home series.
Litton returns despite struggling for form in recent ODI matches. The right-hand batter has endured a difficult run, failing to reach double figures in his last eight ODI innings since December 2023. However, the selectors believe his experience and quality make him an important option in the middle order.
Chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain said the team management still has confidence in Litton’s ability and expects him to regain form soon. He added that Litton has been working closely with the coaching staff to improve his game and could play a key role in stabilising the batting line-up.
Allrounder Afif Hossain has also been recalled to the squad. Ashraf said Afif has always remained in the selectors’ plans and has been in good form recently, making him a valuable addition to the team.
Fast bowlers Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam have also returned to the ODI squad. Their inclusion strengthens Bangladesh’s pace attack alongside Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed.
Meanwhile, Nurul Hasan, Jaker Ali and Shamim Hossain have been left out after failing to secure their places with consistent performances. Fast bowlers Hasan Mahmud and Tanzim Hasan are unavailable due to injuries. Hasan is currently recovering from a right tennis elbow problem, while Tanzim is dealing with a back injury.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz will lead the Bangladesh side for the series, which will run from March 11 to March 15 in Mirpur. The selectors are hoping the refreshed squad can deliver a strong performance against Pakistan in home conditions.
