Kuldeep Yadav Climbs to No. 2 on Purple Cap Standings After DC’s Super Over Win

Delhi Capitals’ thrilling Super Over victory against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday night brought a major shake-up in the IPL 2025 Purple Cap race. Kuldeep Yadav has now surged to second place on the wicket-takers list, sitting just behind long-time leader Noor Ahmad.

Noor remains at the top with 12 wickets, but Kuldeep is now just one behind, having picked up 1 for 33 in the match — his 11th wicket of the season from six games. His consistent performances with left-arm wrist spin continue to pay dividends.

Also sitting on 11 wickets are Khaleel Ahmed (CSK) and Shardul Thakur (LSG), though both have played one more game than Kuldeep. Khaleel edges ahead of Thakur in the standings thanks to a better economy rate (9.00 compared to 10.96).

Despite Mitchell Starc stealing the spotlight with his Super Over heroics for DC, he took only one wicket during the match. That puts him among a growing group of bowlers with 10 wickets so far, including Hardik Pandya (MI), Prasidh Krishna, R Sai Kishore, and Mohammed Siraj (all GT), along with Varun Chakravarthy and Harshit Rana (both KKR). Below them, there’s been some movement. KL Rahul (DC) has climbed to seventh place after scoring a steady 38 against RR, taking his total to 238 runs. Just behind him is Yashasvi Jaiswal (RR), whose 51-run knock — his third fifty this season — has pushed him to 233 runs. Sanju Samson also made progress, scoring 31 before retiring hurt, bringing his total to 224 runs and placing him ninth on the list.
