Karnataka High Court Grants Interim Relief to KSCA Officials Amid Chinnaswamy Stampede Probe

The Karnataka High Court on Friday granted interim protection from arrest to key office-bearers of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in connection with the tragic stampede that claimed 11 lives and injured many others during the RCB victory celebration at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4. Justice S R Krishna Kumar restrained the police from taking any coercive action against the KSCA officials until the next hearing on June 16, while directing the petitioners to cooperate fully with the investigation. The FIR, which names RCB, DNA Entertainment, and KSCA, alleges that the event was held despite police denial of permission and without proper crowd management, contributing to the deadly chaos. The court also heard a related plea by RCB's marketing head Nikhil Sosale, who was arrested allegedly while attempting to flee the country. Meanwhile, the High Court has taken suo motu cognisance of the incident and has asked the state to file a status report by June 10.
