Jamie Overton Returns to Adelaide Strikers as Pre-Signed Overseas Player for BBL|15

England allrounder Jamie Overton is set to return to the Adelaide Strikers for BBL|15, after being locked in as their international pre-signing ahead of the Big Bash League overseas player draft on June 19.

Overton, who has been a standout performer for the Strikers over the past two seasons, was named the club's MVP last year, thanks to his all-round impact. In 18 matches, he has taken 27 wickets at an economy of 8.81 and has also delivered with the bat, scoring 276 runs at an average of 69 and a strike rate of 150.81. His explosive 32 not out off 14 balls against the Sydney Sixers in his last outing further underlined his match-winning credentials.

With BBL rules allowing each club to pre-sign one overseas player — who must be available for the entire season including the finals — the Strikers prioritized securing Overton early.

“Securing Jamie as a pre-draft signing was a top priority for us,” said head coach Tim Paine. “He brings not just skill, but real energy and a competitive edge to our group. He can flip a game in a matter of overs.”

Overton echoed the sentiment, expressing his enthusiasm about returning:

“I'm absolutely thrilled to be coming back to Adelaide for another season,” he said. “The fans, the team, the whole environment — it’s special. I’m determined to help push for finals and go all the way in BBL|15.”

The signing leaves Sydney Sixers as the only franchise yet to lock in an overseas pre-signing, with other clubs having already secured names like Colin Munro, Chris Jordan, Finn Allen, and Sam Billings under the two-year contract structure introduced last year.

Meanwhile, the Strikers' squad will see some changes. Brendan Doggett and Jake Weatherald have left for the Renegades and Hurricanes respectively, but Jason Sangha has been added following a strong domestic season with South Australia.
