Jake Fraser-McGurk Smashes Record 14-Ball Fifty and 49-Ball Century in One-Day Cup

Jake Fraser-McGurk Smashes Record 14-Ball Fifty and 49-Ball Century in One-Day Cup

Jake Fraser-McGurk produced a breathtaking batting display, smashing an Australian domestic List A record 14-ball half-century before reaching his century in just 49 deliveries as South Australia posted a commanding 397 for 7 against Queensland at Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide.
Fraser-McGurk scored 122 off 63 balls, including 10 fours and nine sixes, recording his second List A century. His explosive start put Queensland’s bowling attack under immediate pressure, as he struck 22 runs in the second over off Tom Straker and another 16 in the fourth over against Tom Whitney.
He brought up his fifty in just 14 balls, breaking his previous Australian domestic record of 18 deliveries, set in 2023. His effort also placed him joint fourth on the global list of fastest List A half-centuries, just three balls slower than the world record held by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
Fraser-McGurk continued his assault, racing to 75 off just 22 deliveries and briefly raising hopes of breaking the world record for the fastest List A century. However, Queensland captain Mitchell Swepson slowed his momentum with a disciplined over that conceded just one run.
The right-hander subsequently adjusted his approach, building a 129-run opening partnership with Mackenzie Harvey, who contributed 46 off 35 balls. Fraser-McGurk later struck consecutive sixes against Whitney before completing his century. His innings ended at 122 when he was dismissed leg before wicket by Hayden Kerr.
The batter’s outstanding record at Karen Rolton Oval continued, with two centuries and an 88 in six innings at the venue. In contrast, his performances in 32 List A innings elsewhere have been considerably less prolific.
South Australia captain Nathan McSweeney also delivered a significant contribution, scoring 106 off 103 balls, including 10 boundaries. He shared a 115-run fifth-wicket partnership with Jake Lehmann, who made 58 from 46 deliveries, helping South Australia finish with a formidable total.
While Fraser-McGurk’s extraordinary hitting dominated the innings, McSweeney’s composed century provided the stability needed to push South Australia close to the 400-run mark in their One-Day Cup clash against Queensland.
