IPL 2025 Resumption and Gujarat Titans Squad Update

The IPL 2025 season is set to resume on May 17 after a week-long suspension due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan. The final will be played on June 3, with 13 league matches and four playoff fixtures remaining. Gujarat Titans (GT), who currently lead the points table with 16 points—ahead of Royal Challengers Bengaluru on net run rate—are preparing for their remaining league fixtures: against Delhi Capitals on May 18 in Delhi, followed by two home games in Ahmedabad against Lucknow Super Giants on May 22 and Chennai Super Kings on May 25. England batter Jos Buttler and South African pacer Gerald Coetzee, the only two overseas GT players who had temporarily left India, will rejoin the squad on May 14.

Other overseas players, including Rashid Khan, Sherfane Rutherford, Kagiso Rabada, and Karim Janat, remained in India. However, availability issues loom: Buttler has been named in England’s white-ball squads, potentially ruling him out of the IPL playoffs, while Rutherford is part of the West Indies ODI squad for a series in England from May 29 to June 3, which clashes directly with the playoff schedule. An ECB spokesperson confirmed their willingness to support player participation in the IPL, suggesting flexibility for players choosing to return. The playoff matches will be held on May 29 (Qualifier 1), May 30 (Eliminator), June 1 (Qualifier 2), and June 3 (Final), though venues are yet to be confirmed.
