After a delayed start due to rain, the toss took place at 8:15 PM IST—over an hour later than scheduled—and the match began at 8:30 PM without any overs being lost. PBKS had opted to bat first and got off to a flying start, with openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh putting on a century stand. Arya had just been dismissed for a blistering 70 off 34 balls by T Natarajan when, at around 9:29 PM IST, three of the stadium's floodlight towers went out due to a power failure in the area.

Despite efforts to restore power, the issue could not be resolved, and the match was officially called off approximately 11 minutes later. In an official statement, the BCCI expressed regret for the disruption, citing a malfunction in one of the light towers due to the local power outage. In the aftermath of the incident, PBKS' next match against Mumbai Indians has been moved from Dharamsala to Ahmedabad, presumably to avoid a repeat of the technical issues.
