Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have suffered a setback with Mayank Yadav ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2025 due to another back injury, prompting the franchise to sign New Zealand pacer Will O'Rourke as his replacement for INR 3 crore. Mayank, one of LSG’s three retained players before the mega auction, returned from a long layoff this season but featured in only two matches before the tournament was paused due to India-Pakistan border tensions. Despite being on a special BCCI fast-bowler contract, his comeback was hampered by a toe injury and reduced pace, rarely touching 140kph. This marks O'Rourke’s T20 franchise debut, with the Kiwi already having five T20I caps alongside experience in Tests and ODIs. Meanwhile, Punjab Kings (PBKS) have signed Kyle Jamieson for INR 2 crore as a replacement for Lockie Ferguson, who sustained an injury in April and was ruled out indefinitely. This will be Jamieson’s second IPL stint, having played for RCB in 2021. In another move, Gujarat Titans (GT) have secured Kusal Mendis (INR 75 lakh) to replace Jos Buttler, who will leave for England duty after the league stage, with Mendis eligible for the playoffs.
