India Under-19 finish specialist camps in Bengaluru before Australia series

India's Under-19 squad has finished a set of specialist camps at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru ahead of a home series against Australia that begins in Rajkot on 18 September
The BCCI has completed a round of discipline-specific training stints for its Under-19 men's group at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, splitting the players into three groups rather than running a single squad camp.
"Camps and training stints for the Wicket Keepers, Spinners and Fast bowlers was conducted at the BCCI Centre of Excellence," the board said in a post on Monday.
The work precedes a full home assignment against Australia Under-19, comprising three 50-over matches and two multi-day fixtures across September and October.

Three groups rather than one camp
Separating wicketkeepers, spinners and fast bowlers allows each group to work with a specialist rather than share a generalist session, and the board named two of the coaches involved.
Sunil Joshi, the former India left-arm spinner and national selector, took the spin group. Dishant Yagnik worked with the players on fielding.
The Centre of Excellence, formerly the National Cricket Academy, is also currently hosting both Duleep Trophy semi-finals on its two match grounds, which puts the age-group intake alongside a senior domestic tournament.

Familiar surnames in the squad
The 15-member group named by the Junior Men's Selection Committee includes Aaryavir Sehwag, son of the former India opener Virender Sehwag, who has been playing in the Delhi Premier League this season.
It also includes Anvay Dravid, a right-handed wicketkeeper-batter and son of Rahul Dravid. He had earlier been selected in an India Under-19 one-day squad for a tour of Sri Lanka, so this is not a first call-up.
Both were picked in the one-day squad only. Neither appears in the 15 named for the two multi-day matches, which is a meaningful distinction at this level — the red-ball group is where selectors look for players who can graduate to first-class cricket.

Raichandani to lead
Uttarakhand's Lakshya Raichandani will captain the one-day squad, with Madhya Pradesh's Yashbardhan Chauhan as his deputy. For the multi-day fixtures the roles are reversed: Chauhan leads and Raichandani becomes vice-captain.
Splitting the captaincy between formats is unusual at age-group level and gives the selectors a look at two players in charge rather than one. Only six of the 15 named for the one-day matches also appear in the red-ball squad, so the two groups are close to separate teams.
The one-day squad is Raichandani, Chauhan, Rajat Baghel, Aaryavir Sehwag, V.K. Vineet, Kushagra Ojha, Arjun Rajput, Manal Chauhan, Anvay Dravid, V. Yashveer, Rohit Yadav, Shavin Vinodh, Mohit Ulva, Chigurupati Venkata and Kavya Patel.

A month of cricket in Gujarat
The white-ball leg is three 50-over matches in Rajkot on 18, 21 and 23 September. The red-ball fixtures follow, the first from 27 to 30 September, also in Rajkot, and the second from 5 to 8 October at the Narendra Modi Stadium 'B' Ground in Ahmedabad.
Playing both formats in one block is deliberate. The Under-19 calendar builds towards age-group World Cups that are played as 50-over tournaments, while the multi-day matches are where selectors judge whether a teenager's game will survive the step up to first-class cricket.
Sagar Virk, Kush Patel, Manav Krishna, Abhipray Biswas, Ishan Om, Ayaan Akram, Pranav Ragavendra, Priyanshu Singh and Aryan Yadav come into the squad for the longer format.
India's Under-19 side face Australia in the first one-day match at Rajkot on 18 September.
