India Crush Pakistan for 55, Seal Seven-Wicket Win in Asia Cup

Dubai, September 5, 2026: India produced a dominant bowling performance to bowl Pakistan out for just 55 before completing a seven-wicket victory in 8.4 overs in their Women's Asia Cup 2026 clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Pakistan made a promising start after winning the toss and opting to bat. They reached 27 without loss after 4.2 overs, with Muneeba Ali receiving two early reprieves. However, the game changed dramatically soon after.

Pakistan lost six wickets for just eight runs across the next 29 deliveries, completely losing control of the innings.

Shafali Verma sparks Pakistan's collapse

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur made an attacking move by introducing Shafali Verma during the powerplay. The decision paid immediate dividends as Verma dismissed Muneeba Ali with her third delivery.

It was only the sixth time in Verma's 113 T20I appearances that she had bowled during the powerplay, and she had previously gone wicketless in those spells.

Left-arm spinner Sree Charani then compounded Pakistan's problems by removing Gull Feroza and Shawaal Zulfiqar in the following over.

Charani finished with outstanding figures of 4-0-7-3, while India's spin trio of Charani, Prema Rawat and Deepti Sharma combined to claim eight wickets for just 21 runs.

Pakistan eventually folded for 55, their lowest-ever total in women's T20I cricket.

Fatima Sana gives India early scare

India's chase was not entirely straightforward. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana produced an impressive spell, dismissing all three of India's top-order batters inside the first four overs.

Despite the early setbacks, Pakistan could not build enough pressure to defend the tiny target. Harmanpreet Kaur remained unbeaten on 18, while Deepti Sharma contributed 12.

India reached 57/3 in 8.4 overs, finishing the chase with 68 balls to spare.

India finish top of Group A

The victory confirmed India's place at the top of Group A. They will face the runners-up from Group B in the semi-final on September 10.

Pakistan, meanwhile, will face Hong Kong in their next match and will need a significant improvement with the bat after one of the poorest performances in their T20I history.
