ICC Proposes Governance Overhaul at USA Cricket to Secure Olympic Future

The ICC has outlined a six-step "roadmap" to reform USA Cricket's leadership and governance at the urging of the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC), aiming to help the organization achieve National Governing Body (NGB) status—a requirement for participation in the LA28 Olympic Games. Cricket, added to the 2028 Olympic program, is expected to see U.S. representation, but USAC's current structure fails to meet USOPC standards. The proposed reforms include replacing current independent directors, imposing a cooling-off period for existing board members, and installing a USOPC observer. While the ICC seeks a clean reset, USAC leadership resists, with the majority unwilling to resign, pushing instead for alternate solutions. The matter will be discussed further at the ICC AGM in Singapore on July 20.
