Gull Feroza Fined for Showing Dissent During Women’s T20 Asia Cup

Pakistan batter Gull Feroza has been fined 10% of her match fee and handed one demerit point for showing dissent after being given out lbw during Pakistan’s Women’s T20 Asia Cup match against Hong Kong in Dubai.

The incident occurred in the fifth over of Pakistan’s innings when Feroza attempted to sweep a delivery from Hong Kong left-arm wristspinner Kary Chan. She missed the ball, which struck her pad in front of the stumps, and the umpire ruled her out.

With no DRS available in the tournament, Feroza had to leave the field. However, while walking away, she gestured with her bat to suggest that she had edged the delivery, which the ICC deemed a breach of Article 2.8 of its Code of Conduct relating to dissent towards an umpire's decision.

The punishment was particularly significant as it was Feroza's second offence within a 24-month period, taking her total to two demerit points during that period.

Feroza is now the second Pakistan player to face disciplinary action during the ongoing Asia Cup. Captain Fatima Sana was previously fined 10% of her match fee and awarded one demerit point for her celebration during Pakistan's match against India, where she gestured towards the pavilion after dismissing Shafali Verma.

On the field, Pakistan secured a comfortable 72-run victory over Hong Kong, becoming the second team from Group A to qualify for the semi-finals. Pakistan will face Sri Lanka in the second semi-final on Friday, while Bangladesh and India will meet in the first semi-final on Thursday.
