Ebadot Hossain Returns as Bangladesh Name Squad for Sri Lanka Test Series

Ebadot Hossain is back in Bangladesh's Test fold after nearly two years, making a strong comeback from a lengthy ACL injury layoff. The pacer has been named in the 16-man squad for the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka, which marks the beginning of the 2025–27 World Test Championship cycle for both teams.

Ebadot, who suffered a serious knee injury during an ODI against Afghanistan in July 2023, has since undergone successful surgery and returned to competitive cricket. He featured in 27 matches during the 2024–25 season, including three first-class games, one of which was against New Zealand A last month. The 31-year-old has taken 42 wickets in 20 Tests and adds crucial experience to the seam attack in the absence of Taskin Ahmed, who is still recovering from an ankle injury.

Other Key Changes

• Litton Das also makes his return after missing the Zimbabwe series in April for personal reasons.

• Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad is recalled, having last been in the squad during tours of South Africa and the West Indies in 2023. Although he played just three first-class matches last season, Murad was a regular presence with the national team setup.

• Dropped from the squad are Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Tanvir Islam, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who featured in the Zimbabwe Tests.
