“The ceasefire has just been announced. We are now exploring whether it’s possible to conduct the remaining IPL matches immediately,” Dhumal stated. With only 12 matches left in the season, and 58 already played, the BCCI is racing against time to secure approvals and make logistical arrangements. Franchises have reportedly been instructed to remain on standby, and players who had returned home after the suspension are being alerted to be ready to travel at short notice.

A BCCI official confirmed, “We are working on a 14-day window to finish the remaining matches. If we receive the necessary clearances soon, we can pull it off.”

 Suspended Amid Escalating Tensions

The tournament was abruptly halted on Friday due to rising tensions along the India-Pakistan border. The suspension followed the cancellation of the high-profile match between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamsala, after a sudden power outage at the HPCA Stadium. While initially attributed to a technical failure, Dhumal had said the match was called off as a precautionary measure amid mounting security concerns.

 Alternate Venues and Central Coordination

Prior to the suspension, the BCCI had identified Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad as potential fallback venues. These cities are now being considered once again for hosting the remaining matches, pending government clearance and coordination with local authorities.

“We are working closely with security agencies and central officials. Player safety and smooth execution of matches are top priorities,” said a senior BCCI logistics official.

The ceasefire announcement has reignited hope among fans, sponsors, and broadcasters, all of whom had suffered due to the unexpected disruption. Industry experts believe a swift resumption will not only salvage the tournament but also help restore commercial momentum.
