South Australia, the Sheffield Shield leaders, have crushed Queensland's hopes of reaching the final by dominating play at Karen Rolton Oval.

Centuries from Ben McInerney (142), Jake Lehmann (130*), and Alex Carey (104) put South Australia firmly in control. Carey (104 off 100 balls), Lehmann (130*), and McInerney (142) delivered powerful performances, placing Queensland in severe trouble after just two days.

After declaring their innings at a formidable 614 for 7, SA quickly took command in the field. Brendan Doggett compounded Queensland's woes by removing key batter Marnus Labuschagne, while Nathan McAndrew devastated the top order, claiming three wickets in a lethal opening spell to leave Queensland reeling at 110 for 5 by stumps.

Starting the round second on the table, Queensland now sees their finals hopes slipping away as New South Wales, Western Australia, and Victoria remain close behind, separated by fewer than five points.

Labuschagne's dismissal further dented Queensland's faint hopes of staging a comeback. Wes Agar (3-36) inflicted significant damage early, removing Lachie Hearne, Matt Renshaw, and Jake Clayton lbw in his first spell. Thornton (2-32) added to the Bulls' misery by dismissing Labuschagne and finishing the day strongly.

Jimmy Peirson remained unbeaten at stumps alongside Michael Neser, with Queensland left facing a massive uphill task, trailing by 504 runs and just five wickets in hand.
