BCB to Distribute BPL Ticket Revenue to Franchises Amid Player Payment Crisis

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced that, for the first time in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) history, it will distribute a portion of ticket sales revenue among the franchises to help address last season’s unresolved player payments. The move follows widespread criticism after Durbar Rajshahi's players, both overseas and local, protested non-payment during the tournament. As per the BCB’s decision, teams that reached the playoffs will receive BDT 5.5 million (approximately USD 45,000), while non-playoff teams will get BDT 4.5 million (approximately USD 36,000). The payments, set to be disbursed ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, are conditional upon verified acknowledgments from players confirming receipt of dues. Additionally, the final amount for each franchise will depend on the percentage of outstanding payments they have cleared. The BCB has also warned that any franchise failing to meet its payment obligations despite repeated notices may face legal action, reinforcing the board’s commitment to contractual accountability and the integrity of the league.
