Bangladesh Add Third T20I in UAE Amid Uncertainty Over Pakistan Tour

Bangladesh’s ongoing T20I series against the UAE has been extended to three matches, with the third game scheduled for May 21 in Sharjah — the same venue as the first two encounters. The decision to add an extra match was made at the request of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), and the Emirates Cricket Board was quick to accommodate. This extension comes amid growing uncertainty surrounding Bangladesh’s next planned assignment — a five-match T20I series in Pakistan. Originally slated to begin on May 25, the Pakistan tour has been thrown into doubt due to political tensions between India and Pakistan, which led to the temporary suspension of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Although a ceasefire has been announced and the PSL final has been rescheduled for May 25, the Bangladesh tour had to be tentatively pushed back, with the Pakistan Cricket Board proposing a new window from May 27 to June 5. In the meantime, the BCB, having received conditional approval from the Bangladesh government, is now seeking the players’ opinions before making a final decision on whether to proceed. The team remains stationed in the UAE, potentially allowing for a direct flight to Pakistan if the tour goes ahead as planned. A final call is expected by May 20.
