Eight wins from 10 Tests put Australia in pole position for a third straight World Test Championship Final appearance

The World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle has entered a crucial phase, with Australia currently setting the pace at the top of the standings.

The defending champions have collected eight wins from 10 Tests, giving them a strong 80% points percentage and a significant advantage in the race for a top-two finish. South Africa sit second with 36 points from four matches.

Australia's campaign began impressively, with a series sweep against the West Indies in the Caribbean followed by a successful Ashes defence at home. Their only setbacks so far came against Bangladesh, who stunned the hosts in the opening Test of their recent series.

Australia responded strongly in the second Test in Mackay, securing a victory to level the series and reinforce their position at the top of the table.

Travis Head has been Australia's leading run-scorer in the current WTC cycle with 914 runs, while Mitchell Starc has been their standout bowler with 58 wickets.

With only two defeats in 10 matches, Australia remain firmly on course for what could be a third consecutive appearance in the WTC Final.

However, their path ahead will become increasingly challenging. Australia still have three Tests against South Africa, four against New Zealand and five against India remaining in the cycle. The away assignments in India and South Africa are likely to prove particularly important in determining their final position.

As the WTC action resumes in August, Australia have built a commanding platform, but the battle for the top two is far from over.
