Australia head coach Shelley Nitschke has hailed Sophie Molineux for her leadership during the recent T20I series against West Indies, despite the captain playing only a limited on-field role due to injury.

Molineux, who recently succeeded Alyssa Healy as Australia’s all-format captain, did not bowl during the three-match series as she continues to recover from a back issue. She also had minimal involvement with the bat, featuring only briefly in the final game. However, team management viewed the tour as a crucial opportunity for her to grow into the leadership role ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Nitschke emphasized that Molineux’s presence and guidance were invaluable, describing her as “amazing” both on and off the field. The series allowed Australia to establish a new leadership group and build cohesion as they prepare for major tournaments.
