Arya, Prabhsimran and Shreyas power PBKS to stunning 200-plus chase

Punjab Kings produced a sensational run chase to defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad, overhauling a daunting 220-run target with more than an over to spare in a high-scoring thriller.
The foundation of the chase was laid by a blazing opening stand between Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, who added 99 runs in quick time. Arya dazzled with a 57 off just 23 balls, while Prabhsimran smashed 51, taking full advantage of the powerplay and keeping PBKS firmly in control.
However, the real composure came from captain Shreyas Iyer, who anchored the chase with an unbeaten 69. Walking in during a mini-collapse, Iyer absorbed the pressure before shifting gears, striking crucial boundaries and sixes to guide his side home comfortably.
Earlier, SRH looked set for an even bigger total after a breathtaking 120-run opening partnership between Abhishek Sharma (74) and Travis Head (38). Their explosive start powered SRH to over 100 in the powerplay, putting PBKS under immense pressure.
But an unlikely hero emerged with the ball. Shashank Singh turned the game on its head by dismissing both openers in a single over. His figures of 2 for 20 choked the scoring rate at a crucial stage, preventing SRH from capitalising on their blistering start.
Despite late contributions from Heinrich Klaasen and others, SRH could only manage 219, leaving runs on the table after their dominant beginning.
PBKS briefly wobbled in the middle overs, losing quick wickets, but Iyer’s calm leadership ensured there was no panic. Supported by finishing touches from Shashank, PBKS sealed one of the most impressive chases of the season.
The victory marked yet another successful 200-plus chase for PBKS, underlining their growing reputation as one of the most dangerous batting sides in IPL 2026.
