West Indies vs India: Why India Won the Efficiency Battle

India’s victory in the 1st T20I at Lucknow was built on superior efficiency and controlled execution. West Indies scored 171 all out from 115 legal balls, losing all 10 wickets, while India chased the target with 172/2 from just 88 legal balls. India therefore used 27 fewer legal deliveries while scoring a higher total. Their run rate of 11.73 was also 2.81 runs per over faster than West Indies’ 8.92. The biggest difference came from India’s ability to preserve wickets, accelerate consistently, and finish the chase efficiently. For West Indies, improving batting stability and reducing wicket loss will be key.
