Profile

- Sameer Rizvi turned heads in IPL 2024 auction, where he was picked up for an eye-popping INR 8.40 crore (US$ 1 million approx) by Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

- Popularly called the right-handed Suresh Raina, Rizvi lived up to his billing of being a spin-basher as he smashed the first ball he faced in the IPL, off Rashid Khan, for a six over square leg. He then charged at Rashid and cleared the long-off fielder for another six.

- However, Rizvi scored just 51 runs in eight innings and was not retained by CSK. At the mega auction before IPL 2025, Rizvi was picked by Delhi Capitals (DC) for INR 95 lakh. He had a lukewarm season, managing just 121 runs in four innings, but ended with an unbeaten 58 off 25 balls to sign off DC's campaign with a win.

- Rizvi was retained by DC for IPL 2026 for his existing price of INR 95 lakh.
