- Scouted by Gujarat Titans' assistant coach Aashish Kapoor when he was playing Under-19 cricket for Afghanistan, Noor Ahmad made his IPL debut at 18.

- He formed a strong partnership with his Afghanistan senior Rashid Khan at GT for two seasons.
- In the IPL 2025 auction, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bought Noor for INR 10 crore and he gave their attack a potent point of difference.
- In IPL 2025, Noor was the highest wicket-taker among spinners and second-highest overall, with 24 strikes in 14 games at an economy rate of 8.16.
Following in the footsteps of his countrymen Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, spinner Noor Ahmad too went on to be popular on the franchise T20 league circuit.
Precocious like those other two, Noor too made his senior T20 debut early - at 14. He played his first international three years later, finding himself in demand across the globe thanks to the relative rarity of his prime skill - left-arm wristspin.
At 15, he landed a contract with Melbourne Renegades, making him the youngest player in BBL history. A PSL gig with Karachi Kings followed in 2021, and then his first Afghanistan call-up. He was still young enough for the junior ranks at the time, and it was after he took ten wickets in the 2022 Under-19 World Cup that Noor made his international debut in a T20I against Zimbabwe, and was the Player of the Match for his four wickets.
An ODI debut came in November 2022 and he was part of the Afghanistan squad for the 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2024 and 2026 T20 World Cups.
Noor took 16 wickets in his maiden IPL season, 2023, contributing significantly to Gujarat Titans' run to the final. Two years on, he was a star for Chennai Super Kings, finishing with 24 wickets, second-highest in the league, though his side ended up at the bottom of the table.
