A seam-bowling allrounder, Justin Greaves was among four West Indies players to make their Test debuts on the tour of Australia in 2023-24. And in the second Test, the day-nighter in Brisbane, he played his part in scripting a bit of history for West Indies. Shamar Joseph made all the headlines, of course, but Graves scored what turned out to be a crucial 33 in the second innings, before dismissing Marnus Labuschagne cheaply in the chase. West Indies beat Australia by eight runs in a thrilling finish - it was West Indies' first Test win in Australia since 1997.

Greaves had made his ODI debut much before playing a Test. A month shy of turning 28, Greaves played his first ODI in January 2022, when Ireland had toured the West Indies. He finished the series with three low scores, and without getting to bowl a single delivery.
While Greaves has been good with the ball in domestic cricket, his returns with the bat have been middling. Starting with the West Indies Championship in 2021-22 and until the Headley-Weekes tri-series in 2022-23, Greaves' bowling average across five first-class and List A competitions didn't touch even 24.
