Ayush Mhatre

To chase his dreams, he travelled nearly 80 kilometers one way by train from Virar (outside Mumbai) to Churchgate (next to Wankhede Stadium) to access the game. At 17, he earned a first-class debut for Mumbai and made his maiden first-class century in just his third game in the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy season. On the last day of 2024, Mhatre broke List-A records when he scored 181 off 117 balls in the Vijay Hazare Trophy to become the youngest to hit 150 or more in an innings. He took the record off Yashasvi Jaiswal, back then Mhatre's teammate.

Mhatre was unsold at the IPL 2025 auction, but an injury to Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad handed him a late call-up mid tournament and a debut soon after. His first IPL game - also his maiden T20 game - was in Mumbai against Mumbai Indians. It was a memorable evening as he, as CSK's youngest player of all time, smacked 32 in only 15 balls.
